NAM and Ecolab Host Joint Forum on Sustainability and Innovation

David Bohn, Redding

Redding, CT business leader David Bohn has supported the activities of Preferred Utilities Manufacturing Corporation for over 25 years, advancing from the firm’s marketing and sales departments to serve in the upper tiers of its management. Now operating out of Redding, CT as the firm’s president, David Bohn ensures the efficiency and ongoing development of Preferred Utilities Manufacturing Corporation while remaining active in professional organizations such as the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM).

The National Association of Manufacturers partnered with Ecolab to highlight the manufacturing sector’s many recent accomplishments in the area of innovation. The joint executive forum took place in Chicago in October 2016 and was the second in NAM’s Leading Edge program of events.
Ecolab executive vice president Christophe Beck and Microsoft chief environmental and cities strategist Rob Bernard kicked off the event with a keynote presentation, followed by a panel on the integration of sustainability into manufacturing innovation. Featuring representatives from Pfizer Global Supply, Ecolab, and the Aluminum Association, the speaking engagement shined a light on many of the partnerships between manufacturers, customers, and suppliers that have recently bridged the gap between innovation and environmental consciousness.
In the forum’s second panel, executives from ArcelorMittal, Smithfield Foods, Alcoa, and Ecolab addressed the various factors driving an increase in demand for sustainable and efficient business processes. Subaru of Indiana Automotive executive vice president Tom Easterday closed out the meeting with a presentation on the goals of sustainability, illustrating why it should be a primary concern of modern manufacturers.
